Bell Riderz Street Shred Pad Set Sports Outdoors => Sports => Boating Sailing I purchased this pad set for my 3-year-old daughter to go along with her first pair of roller skates. All pieces of the set fit her, though I find them to be oddly proportioned to each other. She is about 3'4" and wears girl XS in clothes. The knee-pads fit her tightened about halfway, the elbow pads have to be as tight as they go, and the gloves are the exact size of her hands. The knee pads seem about 3-5 years, the elbow pads 4-8 years, and the gloves 3-6 years. I would think as a set the sizes would match up to eachother.Either way, they fit and do their job. I would prefer that the set included wrist protection, since kids will put their hands out to brace their fall and can sprain a wrist in the process. All pieces of the set seem comfortable for her to wear, she has no complaints about having to wear her gear to skate. The other day we played soccer when she was done skating, and she opted to keep the pads on. This came in handy since she falls more chasing the ball than she does skating.
I got this set for my 4.5 year old and handed her old pad set down to her little sister (2.5 year old). She loves the colors and was very excited to put on all her pads to protect her little knees, elbows, and hands while learning to ride her bike. Now that she's got the hang of riding her bike, she only really uses the knee pads because the elbow pads aren't very comfortable and the gloves make her hot, but the whole set will still come in handy when she starts rollerblading eventually. The quality is reasonable for the price, and the plastic is sturdy enough to offer significant protection during a fall. She's fallen a few times with the knee pads breaking her fall, so we've already got our moneys worth back in preventing bruised up knees. My girl is a little petite so these pads will probably last her a good while. One star off because they look a bit cheap, but otherwise they seem to do the job. After a traumatic fall going about a mile per hour my daughter decided she would never ride her razor scooter again. Obviously as a dad I was looking to save the day along with her pride and do a little research on protective gear. Most of the young kid protective gear seems to be extremely flimsy plastic that would disintegrate on contact which defeats the purpose of protective gear. I've owned Bell gear before and they always seem to do a great job balancing quality and price, and for the price they hit a home run. The pads are light, and the protective gear is solid. They fit my 6 year old snugly and give her the confort of knowing she is protected from scrapes and bruises, and for the money you can't go wrong.I ordered this set along with a Bell helmet and Chicago Girls Sidewalk skates for my niece for her 4th birthday. These pads are very cute and match perfectly with the skates. I haven't given the gift to her yet so I can't speak for the performance, but they look stylish (which she will love) and feel sturdy (which her parents will love). They do appear to be sized for smaller children...I would say age 3 or 4 to maybe 6. They seem a little small for an 8 year old so I would keep that in mind if you're considering them for an older child.I love these little gloves. They fit my very small seven year old so well. This product has given her the confidence she needed to be an awesome little roller blader. She doesn't have to worry about scraped hands.. so she is free to have fun. Honestly I thought we wouldn't us the pads at all, originally I was only buying this set for the gloves, because I couldn't find anything small enough for her. To my surprise the pads are comfortable not stiff and work very well. You know, these are better than I thought! I had NO idea if these would fit my very thin child (just turned 5, only 35 lbs) but that adjust very well. The gloves, knee pads, and elbow pads fit well and feel well made. My daughter was super excited to get them. I also liked they aren't dripping in pink and not some character. I see us getting at least a full year or two out of these before she either uses them up or outgrows them.
I bought 2- one for my 2 year old and another for my 4 year old. It fits my 4 year old girl well. The gloves are can be a little tedious to get on- especially on the 2 year old. My 2 year old is on the smaller size, so the knee pads tend to move down as he wears them. I can always use the elbow pads as knee pads for him. It has been nice not having to put band aids on them when they fall off their bikes or scooters!
My daughter saw me open the box yesterday, so she got that part of her Christmas present early. She was so excited that she wore the pads around the house. They look pretty good, and seem to be quite sturdy. When she opens her inline skates and we all go skating in a couple of weeks, I won't be worried about her skinning her knees or elbows anymore. Fingers run over by another skater? Still a worry...
