My family and I have been in the Tofu and Soy Milk business for over 40 years. In those 40 years we have become well experienced in optimally choosing the best Soybeans to make Tofu and Soy Milk. Since we are a large Tofu/Soy Milk manufacturing company, we have the privilege to choose the best crops from various farmers across the Mid-West every year. Also, because we own a Tofu/Soy Milk manufacturing business, we are constantly getting new shipments of soybeans every 3 weeks, therefore we always have the newest crop possible. Newest crop ensures that you get the best tasting and fragrant Tofu and Soy Milk. Identity-preserved (IP) soybean production refers to a system where soybeans are grown under contract, following set guidelines to ensure the harvested crop meets the purity and/or quality parameters demanded by the end user. This ensures that the Non-GMO soybeans are not contaminated by GMO crops.
Soymerica Non-GMO Soybeans - 7 Lbs (Newest Crop). Identity Prese Perfect for making soy milk! After researching, this is how you get rid of the beany taste in soy milk. Soak beans overnight in boiling water. Rinse, add new hot water, massage beans, and scoop out skins with a slotted spoon. Continue massaging and removing skins. Boil beans for 10 minutes with 1/2tsp of baking soda. Rinse, repeat. Rinse, add one cup of soaked beans and 2 cups water to blender (I used Ninja). Strain with nut bag. Repeat with all soaked beans. Boil, reduce heat to low and simmer milk for 20 mins, whisking frequently. I added vanilla and Stevie (1/2 tsp vanilla, 1tbsp Stevia per cup). It tasted a bit like vanilla cake!!!! Cool completely before refrigeration. Or serve hot (it was delicious!)I am absolutely FURIOUS. I posted 2 questions, they were both deleted. The soybeans I regularly use, became too expensive, so in my idiotic optimism, I decided to try this brand. I know a lot of milk farmers, are trying to make a go, of soy production, so I figured, support American. ???????? Not realizing this hails from California. Of course. These beans WILL NOT get creamy. They will NOT cook through. However if you want toxins in your Tofu, Tempeh, or Soy Milk, from uncooked soy, this is the brand for you! I SOAKED THEM FOR 24 hours. Cooked them on the stove for FIVE HOURS! Put them in the Instant Pot.... at this point, it’s just for laughs and giggles.... it’s been high pressure...45 minutes now! I’m starting to suspect they’re not beans at all, but mutant uncookable aliens! I’ve dealt with stale beans...trust me, these are not stale....they are FREAKING impervious to water, heat, pressure, and time. I really believe this California company would be better served, using these “beans” in construction, for housing, for their multitude of homeless. I also bought Nigari from this company, and I won’t even open it, after the soy debacle. Who knows what tragedy awaits me with that? I WANT MY MONEY BACK!!! Don’t buy this product! Like COVID wasn’t frustrating enough! My blood pressure is off the charts! Don’t buy this. Remember your first romantic heartache? Double it times 20.Soybeans were great for Soy Milk, Tofu, Natto and Tempeh. Been making these 4 things for years and these beans are actually the best I've ever used. High protein content so my tofu coagulated easily. Very fresh, so my Natto came out soft and tasty. Soy Milk was creamy and had a natural sweetness. I even had the beans tested for pesticides just to be sure and it all came out 100% pesticide-free. Really great product. Also a great price for the amount you get. I'm so happy that I found this brand after all these years. Will definitely purchase again. After I bought a soymilk maker, I bought a bag of Laura brand soy beans. Loved them since the soy milk tasted great. After it was gone I bought this brand of soy beans since I could get more for my money...but yuck! They smelled bad after making the milk and it tasted funky. My family almost stopped drinking it since it was just a raw, dirty taste. I just made my first batch of milk with the new Laura beans, and wow, it's back again. Delicious, fresh, tasty, clean soy milk. STAY AWAY FROM THESE BEANS. Worst thing ever.
The first time I ordered is 3 weeks ago, that was a very good quality and gave out a full favor of soybean milk as well as can sprout. So I ordered the second time within 3 days. 3 days ago, I received the second package. Oh man! it is totally different even from the first look. The soybean favor is absent, cannot sprout and it is totally wasting my money. Strongly suggest the company maintenance their quality or it will totally ruined the company's reputation.Dishonest product disguised in perfect form. Each soybean look perfect pale yellow color. But there is not much aroma of soybean at all after unpacked, and during rinsing and soymilk making as well. When I tried to sprout them, I found all soybean come out injured during harvest, and about 1/3-1/2 couldn't sprout. So I have to guess that the seller coat all the soybean to cover the injury for a better sale.
I wanted to start making my own tofu, because I want to reduce the amount of plastic I buy. Individual tofu containers from the supermarket are so wasteful!Yes, this comes in a plastic bag, but I’ve made about 10 bricks of tofu so far and I’ve used only 1/10th of the bag. Imagine how much plastic that saves!!Not to mention, the tofu this stuff makes is soooo good. It tastes fresh, creamy, and so much better than the tofu from the store. Not to mention, you can decided how soft or firm you want it to be with how long you press it. I used Peaceful Cuisine’s (on YouTube) recipe for making fresh tofu.Haven’t tried soy milk or tempeh yet, but I definitely want to now!! I recommend this if you’re thinking about making your own soy foods at home!
I've used these soybeans to make soy milk and several types of tofu. I think I'm currently on my third 7 pound bag, so I can attest to their consistency. I've also used some other soybeans that are available here on Amazon, and while they weren't bad, sticking with the Soyamerica soy was an obvious choice. These have a nice, clean taste, that's naturally sweet and a little grassy. Buying the soy directly from producers like Soyamerica is the way to go. The very first time I bought soy to try to make soy milk for the first time, I bought some at an Asian food market without giving it much thought. Once I'd had the chance to get to know soy a little better it was evident that these had a traveled a great distance and had certainly crossed the Pacific Ocean twice. That's just senseless! These are much fresher and buying more locally is better for A LOT of reasons. Especially since the current political environment is making life much tougher for Midwestern soy farmers.
