There are plenty of reviews, so I'm mostly writing this to state the facts: the inner diameter of the hose clamps is 11.5mm, when contracted and 13.9mm when fully expanded. Different hoses have different outer diameters (O.D.), so one cannot simply say what kind of hose they'll fit, especially since hoses are usually sized by inner diameter (I.D.) as their flow capacity is what matters the most, and that depends on their cross-section, which is directly proportional to the I.D. I happened to use them with 1/4" fuel hose and they were perfect for it, but as others have pointed out, for a thin-walled 1/4" hose, they will be too wide. Thus, make sure that the O.D. of your hose is just under 13.9mm and you will be fine. I also used a 5/16" I.D. fuel hose in my project and this clamp would not fit it, but it wasn't supposed to.I cannot say anything about long-term performance because I just used them, we'll have to wait. The clamps are coated (the red color), so they are most probably not stainless steel, so it will be up to the coating. You may need to use extra corrosion protection, if used in a harsh environment (e.g., the underside of a car).
Did not work at all for a 3/16 fuel line with an outside diameter of 10mm. Even when the fuel line was connected, these clamps did not provide any holding at all, they just slid around....After initially writing this review and then reading other reviews here, I can see how these are advertised as THE CLAMP having a .455 inch inner diameter. However... the description is way too misleading to have anyone think these won't work for 1/4 or 3/16 fuel line. It would be so much clearer to describe these as fitting hoses with a .455 inch OUTSIDE diameter. I still sent them back.On the package: Oregon 02-040 1/4' and 3/16" hose clamp ID .455" made in USA. UPC 032488020409.In the package: 10 spring clamps, painted redThese clamps are identical to the Hillman product 59734 which is listed as a 1/2" clamp which is accurate as they fit 1/2" OD hose or tubing. Closed (relaxed) diameter on this clamp is .455", open (expanded) is about .53" . These clamps go slightly out of round when fully expanded. One star off for not indicating that the 1/4" and 3/16" on the package refers to the hose ID.
Its been so long but if memory serves me they come in a nice container if your like me an like all your specialty parts in clear containers. Super value. My hardware has been out of 1/2 the various sizes, this being on of the most common. I want to go in and ask have you ever tried Amazon but then they would be selling them for a $1 ea. People know I work on small engines so they swing by in the small town after defeat at the hardware. As long as I can get them here. I usually help the person with their fuel line and them no charge just have a great day!
I am using this on standard 1/4" ID fuel line and these barely fit once you put something in the hose like a fuel filter. They do fit but you have to force the clamp over while it is entirely squeezed. I really wish they would tellthe outside diameter of the hose they fit instead of the inside diameter.Aside fromt hat though they seem like pretty decent quality and I think they will last a long time. I have been using two of them for about two months now with no issues.
Perfect for 1/4" fuel/vac line. Too large for 3/16" standard rubber hose (even when installed over a barbed fitting). Suspected this going in, so really a mark down for the application description. Talking automotive application only (not saws, etc). Happy to discover they are still U.S. made. Good product.
Indeed it is 4.55 inches inner diameter. However, without taking measurements first, and seeing this advertised for 1/4" and 3/16" fuel lines, I was misled to think this would work. It doesn't, it's too loose. My fuel line has an O.D. of 7/16" = 0.4375 inches.Clearly you can see why this doesn't work for me...
Inside diameter was too big to snug the 1/4" fuel line to inline filter on my Honda HRX217 lawn mower.I had to order new thicker fuel lines. Since the mower is 18 years old it could use new fuel lines I suppose. My bad for not getting my calipers out to measure before buying.
